		<description>Excellent article Michael, definitely agree with the blog as system - a method of publishing content - rather than the oft concept as blog as a type of content (i.e. commentary, citizen media/diary).  

Also agree with using existing road-test platforms such as Wordpress and Movable Type, as they are mostly open-source, well-documented and expandable (via plugins and in-house development), the blog can become much more than a stream of text.</description>
