I loved reading this post because I think you've hit on exactly what makes some blogs so good to read - when a person writes because they love to write and talk about aspects of their life or thoughts - not because they are being paid to come up with something witty on a news site. But you also highlight good reasons to read and use professional blogs - and in both cases show that blogs are about creating communities and conversation - not a static piece to be read and discarded.
Thank you.

Nice post! I was blogging even before there was a word for it... starting in 1997-98 I began an online journal about the trials and tribulations of having an Internet dependent biz. In my current, an hopefully last, Internet biz I continue the tradition. Maybe one day I will figure out the 'permissions' involved with having people respond to my writings as I do not want to go off-site with my deep thoughts (I have a hosted site) . For now my blog will have to be a one way street. Anyhoo, keep up the good writing and good luck to you!

Great post. Blogging is far more than ranting and games. Much can be achieved, and I'm living proof of such. I started a blog mid 2006 and it took me through the meanders of networking and blogrolls from a small town in southern Portugal all the way to Red Sox town, Boston, MA :)
